Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who has gained fame for her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. Her career began as a performer during the 80s. Her fame was boosted by Tezaab, a film starring an established actor Anil Kooor. The next film she appeared in was Dil where she starred alongside Aamir. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance at an early age. She ventured into acting as a youngster and struggled for a few years as many of her early film projects were unsuccessful. Then she found her way to success and became one of the most prominent actresses in the Indian film business. Following her wedding, she took a brief time off from her acting career before returning. In the last few years, Dixit played a significant role in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggle of Indian women. Dixit received 8 Filmfare Awards out of the fifteen nominations she received. Padma Shri is the fourth most prestigious civilian award in India. She is also recognized for her charity work.
