Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his family and service to his community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them made All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the country by Outland Lombardi, the Outland Awards. In his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma finished 32-1-0 and won two national championships. On his third scholarship, he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a bachelor's in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work in his college days. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-time all-pro. The beginning of his business career came. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that it was a surprise to hear that he was voted one of the 10 most notable young men of the nation according to the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when playing in the college football league. As of 1975, Lee Roy led the team. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
